Shinichi took in Holmes' appearance and figured he must have been between cases or something when he suddenly fund himself at the manor. Unlike Holmes, Conan was very clean. His blue jacket didn't have a speck of dirt on it-strange for a child his age- and buttoned up to hide his own suspenders. Most people would find it weird he wore suspenders and a belt, after all.

He noticed that Holmes' appearance didn't quite match that which Shinichi had while reading the book-though not by much. At the comment of being taller then expected, Shinichi can't help but feel a twinge of annoyance. After all, he should be taller. Much taller. He was supposed to be five foot ten and not three foot eight or whatever it was now. Really, he lost the will to care when he woke up to find he couldn't reach a door knob.

"Do you know how to use a microwave?" He pointed to the machine.
