(no subject)

Character Names: Aoko ([livejournal.com profile] abluechild), Yoh ([livejournal.com profile] a_damned_liar)
When: Avatar plot - sometime after Aoko got dragged off to see Iroh
Location: Entrance hall - outside
Summary: Yoh attempts to teach Aoko to fire bend... which isn't exactly successful.
Ratings: PG13 just because Yoh is there
Warnings: .....Takami Yoh is his own warning, this has been mentioned. Also cute and fluff. :|

Aoko was in an even more sour mood then before. Not only had Kaito and Hakuba insisted she go back to talk to Iroh about the problem but they had picked her up and carried her to him! Where did they get off thinking they could just lift her up and take her where ever they pleased!? Not to mention it probably looked really strange to anyone that saw. They were both idiots!

And maybe-just maybe she wouldn't be so mad if their attempts had actually worked. But No. It didn't. Again, all she managed was a puff of smoke so that meant something was wrong with her. And that wasn't really a thought she liked thinking about.

But maybe Yoh was right and it had something to do with how she was being taught and had nothing to do with confidence and a proper drive or inner conflicts that she'd really rather just ignore. Part of her feared that, that was what was wrong but the other part ignored that thought and settled on the idea that she just couldn't do it.

After escaping her two best friends she made it to the entrance hall looking.. perhaps a little put out and annoyed.

Yoh was waiting for her there. He had never been a fan of teachers, easily tricked idiots spouting rhetoric at their pupils expecting it to stick. They were useless and Yoh knew it. Aoko took the blame onto herself and Yoh was positive that this was wrong. Over the week he'd been training himself to use his new found powers and he was pretty sure he'd gotten the hang of it, well, for the most part.

"Hey," he greeted Aoko as she approached.

She did not look happy, but Yoh couldn't blame her. Failure was infuriating, and worse than failing was being forced to fail. Clearly it was the fault of the teacher and then she was dragged back by her moronic friends to do it all over again.

"We should work outside, unless you feel like burning the place to the ground," he gave her a smile.

"It will," he gave her a reassuring look and offered her his hand. He wouldn't force her to take it, but maybe she would. Yoh opened the door and lead her out onto the snowy grounds. "It'll work, I promise." Yoh's typical arrogance was showing.

Yoh took her far enough from the Manor that they wouldn't be noticed. He ducked behind the hedge maze so they wouldn't be seen from the Manor's windows, at least the ones on the first floor. However he was careful to stand far enough away that towering hedges wouldn't catch fire, Minatsuki would never forgive him for such a grievous offense as destroying plants.

"There's a trick to it that I don't think that old guy is teaching," Yoh explained as he took his spot across from her.

Yoh didn't mind. He understood annoyance and anger. In fact, that would help. Yoh gives her a cocky half smile, "get mad."

"Good! Use that! Think about everything that makes you angry! Think about when Kaito flips your skirt, and when Hakuba and he dragged you back to lessons, and when Kaito calls you names, and when I cut class," Yoh said encouragingly. Maybe this would be enough, but Yoh had more situations at his disposal. If he could get her mop-wielding mad he was sure he'd get at least a spark out of her.

"Hey wait!" Yoh jogged after her through the snow. "Maybe you're not focusing on the right thing!" He knew he could get her powers to work, he knew she could get it! He caught up to her quickly and overtook her easily, stopping short in front of her. "What about the Kaitou Kid!" Then he made his mistake, "what about your dad?"

He had forgotten how scary she looked when she was angry. Yoh could practically hear that thin ice cracking. "I...uh..." Luckily Yoh thought fast on his feet, but before he could say he was projecting a very stupid but insistent idea got into his head. Tell her the truth about what he said and maybe her Firebending would work. Sure, he'd suffer some second and third degree burns, but Aoko would be happy. "I said that you're really mad at your dad."

Yoh knew this was going to end badly for him, but he hoped that he could manage to get her to produce fire before he ruined their friendship. "That wouldn't make you a brat," Yoh said helpfully, showing no fear even the slightest hint of a smile on his face. "It'd make you right." Come on Aoko, show him that fire he knows is in you.

Yoh watched her hands, there was definitely something starting there. Now he just had to bring it out. "You know it's true."
