[The tree in the parlor is massive. Its prickly branches stretch outwards and are weighed down with bright ornaments; the star at the top nearly touches the ceiling. In the fireplace nearby, a fire crackles warm and orange. Outside the window, there is snow. It's a perfect Christmas scene. And on the rug, under the tree? Those are your presents.]

[Her chin hits the floor and her large feet pushed her up off the floor with a shake of her head and a sound that resembles a coo. Her eyes follow Ritsuka toward the stocking and tilts her head with a purr.]

[Plucking the stocking off the hook he walks over and kneels down by Toothless' head, then tries to tip the contents out of it.]

Huh?

[He felt stuff in there but it wasn't pouring out.]

Hm, maybe only you can get your stuff out?

[Holding it by his mouth and shaking it a little, he hopes she'll get the idea to shake it with her own mouth. He then places it on the floor by her head.]

[She follows what Ritsuka was doing and mimics the gesture. Once the stocking was tipped, the contents poured out and her eyes widened when she saw the recognizably wrapped candies and sniffs.]

Smart girl.

[He snaps a picture when she starts sniffing around her treats, then picks one up to remove the wrapping before setting it in front of her nose.]

[Using her tongue, she licks it up from Ritsuka's hand and purrs, nuzzling his chest in gratitude.]

[His hand gives her head a rub then he looks back to the tree.]

Lets see, anymore for Toothless...?

[Taking another one from the same pile he got her first gift from he reads a name... but it wasn't "Toothless".]

To: Blacky. From: Natsuo. Natsuo gave someone named Blacky a gift?

[Natsuo didn't seem like the gift giving type. Now he wonders who Blacky is...]

[Her head perks up and a nod with a purr of affirmation rumbles through.]

Brrrr.

[She sniffs the package.]

Hey, this isn't for yo-

[He watches her curiously and tries saying the name again to see her reaction. She seemed to know the name. It only takes a moment for him to connect that no one else would know her real name.]

Oh, you have other names besides your true name. Toothless...

[It ended in a "Less". Now he tries to picture Toothless as someone's fighter... That was a team he wouldn't want to go up again. With a small laugh he starts open up her gift from Natsuo.]

[Having a lot of names often adds to confusion sometimes for other parties that didn't know the true name to begin with. Being unable to speak properly, she hadn't learned yet the ability of telepathy to communicate other than to make gestures or to nod yes or no. Still, she was having too much fun with the ornaments on the tree to really care about something as silly as names.]

[While she's being dazzled by the tree ornaments, Ritsuka pulls her gift out of the box. It's a big red rubber ball. Now that seems like a better gift for an animal. He bounces it.]

[Quickly, she shifts her attention from the tree to the ball and crouches down in a playful stance with her tail slowly swishing from side to side much like a cat would when prey's in sight.]

[The ball stops bouncing when he sees she's ready to pounce. As happy as he is to see her excited about her new gift, he wasn't about to let her crush him for it.]

Do you know how to play fetch?

[He then rolls the ball off to the side for her to pounce on.]

[That's a game that she definitely knew how to play. With a single jump, she skid around to "catch" the ball without actually using her claws for the pounce before nudging it back.]

[Ritsuka watches her skid and wince when she just misses knocking over an armchair. He sighs in relief and waits to see if she'd give the ball back.Most animals he's seen playing fetch... usually forget that half of the game.]

[Toothless pushes the ball back towards Ritsuka and purrs.]

Good girl!

[The black tail swishes happily and picks the camera back up, this time he kicks the ball further to lead her away from the furniture. He then takes get a few shots of her enjoying the ball.]
