CHRISTMAS.

Character Names: OPEN, OPEN, OPEN.
When: All of Christmas week
Location: Under the tree in the parlor
Summary: It's Christmas, and everyone has presents to open. No, you won't get coal.
Ratings: ...G? PG? We're opening presents, for God's sake.
Warnings: Gift rap, choking hazards for children under 3.

[The tree in the parlor is massive. Its prickly branches stretch outwards and are weighed down with bright ornaments; the star at the top nearly touches the ceiling. In the fireplace nearby, a fire crackles warm and orange. Outside the window, there is snow. It's a perfect Christmas scene. And on the rug, under the tree? Those are your presents.]

[Sheldon gave another sneeze but at least the frequency of them weren't as bad as before.]

I think we all do that. We try to find something familiar that reminds us of home good or bad. If we didn't do that, I think we'd all go insane.

Mm. To some degree, I think I like this place not being anything like home. There are new things to learn, and... well, that suits me very well. [She's leaning back a little and wincing.]

...I enjoy being injured slightly less, though.

[Sheldon looked at the tree and back at Tris.]

I take it you got hurt during the Battle of Fish?

If that's what they're calling it. [Tris is raising her good arm to run a hand down one of her braids.]

That's what I'm calling it. Not that it matters much to many others. I'm glad that bastard's dead. Never liked cannibals.

Mm. [Tris is looking a little green.] I take it you... knew him? Or heard of him?

Heard of him is more like it. I had to take a study on him when I was taking law enforcement and criminal psychology in after I left the Marines. He makes Charles Manson look like a boy scout.

"Charles Manson"? I'm... not from the same place you are, I think.

[He sneezed and realized what he said and nods.]

Fair enough. Still, he's not as bad as Fish.

[Tris nodded a little.] But that's in the past.

...Why is there a pine tree in here, anyway?

I don't know. It's like...the Author likes pretty things but forgets practicality. A fifty foot tall tree....not very wise.

Mmhm. I'm used to plant-mages- the needless death of a tree like this, just to make a room look pretty... would not sit well with them.

I think it's a waste personally. They make plastic trees that look just as real but cutting down a perfectly good tree just to decorate in a house for a few days only to take it down and toss it away isn't what I call practical. I do know of a person that can use the wood.
