Each class is going to have a log. Please only respond to people who are in your class. The first poster should put their class (either A or B) in the subject line.

[Hatori's stood there with a frown on his face, arms folded and a cigarette in his mouth. He's not changed into gym kit, he's just watching. He sighs and shakes his head. If any of the girls play then he's royally fucked, so he just makes up the excuse that he's ill.]

No way in hell.

[Gene sees a classmate with a cigarette and scowls. If he wasn't allowed to have jack and coke with his lunch, why should this guy be allowed to have cigarettes? This...isn't...fair.

When the whistle blew, he tackled his opponent and hard.]

There's just no justice in the world.

[He only has his cigarettes as they're constantly on his person. That and he actually has a legitimate reason to be stood out...not that anyone needed to know what it was.

He cocks his head and watches the other tackle, wincing on behalf of the opponent.]

I suppose I'll at least be useful for something.

[The whistle blew and Gene was called off the field.]

Yikes, I shouldn't have lost my temper.

[He was now benched for the rest of the game.]

It's supposed to be touch football but I got a little carried away.

[He grinned sheepishly, fiddling with the fastenings on his helmet and pads.]

Amittedly I have no idea how to play this game. Besides, I'm technically not allowed to.

[He shrugs and exhales the cigarette fumes]

I thought football was when you kicked it up and down a pitch, not carry it?

[And here comes the nerd moment.]

Actually, American Football is an adaptation of rugby. The difference is rugby is a lot more full contact without the use of safety equipment. American Football evolved from the large amount of rules that were implemented for the safety of players.

The name...is terribly consequential.

[Hatori blinks at him and nods. Fair play.]

Oh I see...so essentially they wanted to play Rugby but a safer version? Doesn't that defeat the point of playing Rugby?

[Not that he'd want to play the real version, a thug's game played by gentlemen he'd always heard.]

I'm Hatori Sohma, sorry I don't believe we've met.

Gene Watson.

[He thought about what Hatori said and shook his head.]

Well, kind of. It's more like...American's are wimps when it comes to making something traditional, twisting it in some weird way and calling it original when it's really something old to begin with.

To rationalize and sensationalize something that's been around for centuries becomes counterproductive on a grand scale when it's already known to be an adaptation to begin with.

Personally, I hate this sport.

[He covers his mouth covering a slightly amused smirk - after all it's not polite.]

I'm going to remain ambivilent on this subject.

[He pulls out his pack of cigarettes as he stubs out his previous one, but thinks to offer it silently, holding the packet forward. Be warned they're menthols.]

[Gene reaches out and takes one. He's not one to pass down an offer.]

[He looks back out on the field.]

I never could understand the purpose for it other than to beat the other guy up...kinda like boxing.

[He smiles and pops one into his mouth and gives him his lighter. Others before yourself.]

Don't mention it.

[He follows his gaze and lets out a humourless laugh.]

It's just an excuse to be violent. Lets people vent their frustrations legitimately, in my opinion at least.

[Gene inhales and coughs. He nearly had forgotten how strong menthol was.]

Mm hm.

Better to take it out now than to bully some poor kid at the lockers.

Sorry, are you alright?

[He almost reaches out to pat him on the back, but stops himself before his nerves can even make his arm move. Keep distance.]

Lesser of two evils. Though considering this isn't a real High School I doubt that's a risk.

[Gene couldn't help but laugh at the part that this wasn't a real school. To him, this was like one of those reality shows that follow people around through a scenario just to see how they react to certain situations.]

I'm okay. It's funny that you mention reality. This isn't real. It can't be. If it were, where's the assistant teachers and where are the teachers? It's like...kinda weird.

There's a few around. Though I've noticed a few are facelss. Doesn't make sense. The principal'd be better off a poster girl than running this place.

It's just for the author's amusement.

[Gene looked up quickly.]

Author? As in....a writer? Now this is weird.

[He nods]

According to Mello we've been kidnapped and placed into a story. It doesn't make any sense but it's all I've got to go on.

[He sputters.]

Okay, now it's official. I've flipped. I cracked at tax time and I've lost my full mind. This has got to be the weirdest event of my life. What about you? Do you believe what Mello says and who is Mello? He sounds like a hippie.

[He inhales casually and exhales with a sigh.]

I'm beyond caring right now. If that's the status quo then I can't do anything about it. Yes, it's distressing and I think that she's being selfish doing this, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Mello is far from, he's got one of the foulest mouths I've come across not to mention a bad temper.

Yikes, that's pretty bad on both.

Mm, I'll say.

[He runs a hand through his hair and sighs.]

Either way. I'm sadly going to have to adopt a friend of mine's outlook for now: Que céra, céra.

[Gene looks back onto the field and nods.]

I know what you mean. At least you have a friend. I'm still getting them.

[He chuckles]

Quality over quantity, always remember that one.

[Admittedly Shigure..had his moments, but still. Shigure was Shigure.]

It's a good rule.

[Gene can count in his life only 4 friends and one of them he married but was on the verge of divorce when she died. He's still hurting about it but he isn't willing to talk about it. He inhales the smoke and blows it out slowly.]

That takes time...you know...to build the trust to make it happen.

[He nods in agreement, to be honest after things with Kana it'd be a wonder if he'd ever trust anyone again with the secret of the Sohma curse outside of the family and Tohru.]

Admittedly it's just as much down to how willing you are to let yourself trust them, not just to be won over - you have to allow yourself that much.
