Rum and Wine
Character Names: Jack Sparrow and Lucy Saxton
When: Backdated to Tuesday evening
Location: The dining room
Summary: Jack promised Lucy that he would make her dinner and he wants to get to know her a little better.
Rating: PG-13 for starters.
Warnings: Innuendo and double entendre.
Jack was busy preparing the meal that he promised to make Lucy which consisted of slow cooked pot roast, carrots, mashed potatoes and brown gravy along with dinner rolls. He had to look at a recipe book of course but he didn't leave anything to chance.
Backing the pie was a little trickier and decided to go with a key lime that he could simply defrost. He was good, but not that good. Maybe if the captain had a little more time, he could get it done but he wasn't going to experiment with something that he didn't quite understand just yet. After all, he was looking to impress Lucy, not poison her with something awful.
Jack had set out the fine tableware and picked out the best wine that he knew of from the cellar below. Placing the bottle in the center between the two place sets, it was time to make the plates before lighting the candles. Artificial light seemed too overbearing to his eyes. This not only created a warm atmosphere, it certainly marked a romantic one.

Something her husband had always been good at was making her look her best, it was part of her role to be as appealing as possible on his arm and he'd always done a very good job by buying her the perfect outfits.
She put a little make-up on and let her hair hang loose, spraying herself with a sweet perfume before checking herself in the mirror one last time, then heading off to meet Jack.
She wasn't sure why she was making such an effort, she just knew she liked Jack, and it had been a long time since she'd had dinner with someone.
Lucy knocked before entering the dining room, hovering in the doorway.

He stood up and the match in his finger still lit, burned down the stick and bit the tip of his thumb, snapping him out of his thoughts and quickly went to her with a smile. "I'm completely under dressed for this occasion."
And a wince from the pirate. Why suddenly he started thinking about his own appearance was beyond him. He held out his hand and gave a smooth bow at the waist. "This way, m'lady."
On all honesty, if he put more effort in his appearance, the meal would have suffered which was something that he wouldn't stand for.

She looked at the table and her smile grew wider.
"This is beautiful, Captain. You really needn't have gone to so much trouble. It's lovely."
And it was true. Lucy was surprised by the effort Jack had put into arranging the table - the cutlery, the candles, it all looked wonderful. She was flattered he'd made such an effort for her. She felt more at ease than she had in a long time, and she predicted that it was going to be a very enjoyable evening.

His smile grew wider when she mentioned the efforts he made. He figured out quickly that both of them enjoyed being the center of attention in one form or another. "Thank you very much, and it shall be enjoyed with the best of company which is now infinitely better than before."
At least now he didn't worry about home or going home anymore, at least for now. There was unfinished business to take care of but now wasn't the moment to dwell on such things as he walked her to her seat and pulled out the chair for her. The light scent of her perfume certainly left a mark in his mind that will not be forgotten.

Of course she knew it was only a matter of time before her husband found her - he could travel across space and time, he'd be able to track her down anywhere.
She knew she should be more worried, not only by what he'd do to her if he knew she was even flirting with another man, but also by what he'd do to Jack...
As it was, though, she was enjoying herself too much to care, and she shoved the thought to the back of her mind.
"You weren't lying when you said you were a gentleman," Lucy commented, taking a seat.

The change of events that lead to his removal from the physical world remained silent on his lips for now. Jack was thankful for any chance to redeem himself. Locker or no, he was taking advantage of his time here and Lucy was certainly the most welcome addition to his otherwise bleak existence in a place so unwelcoming inside than outside.
"I is a gentleman, darling." Jack grinned playfully and gently pushed in her chair as she settled in. As graceful as any rum soaked pirate can be, he slipped into his own seat and lifted his wine glass. "To chance and circumstances wherever they lead us."

She settled herself in her seat, relaxing, and fixed her gaze on Jack. "So, tell me about yourself, Captain."

Then a question came to his mind nearly instantly. "How far do you want me to go back?"
no subject
"Gosh, 1725... you really are a real pirate..."
She wasn't sure what she'd believed before, but now she realised he was telling the truth and that excited her beyond anything. "A real pirate Captain!"
She forced herself to settle down and smiled at him sheepishly across the table. "That's enough for now. Wow, that all sounds so exciting..."

He didn't have many enemies here since he's been keeping a low profile at that. He knows he has to teach fencing to Oz which is still something solid he has in his life.

Lucy loved the idea of adventure and freedom. She'd been raised by a very high class family, her father was a lord, she'd been sent to boarding school as soon as she was old enough and taught the proper way to behave, and she'd only ever gone home at Christmas. Her life had been a series of oppressive expectations, and her own personality had been smothered by what those around her expected her to be.
Her only escape had been in books, where she'd been able to dream for just a moment about a life where she could do and be what she wanted, where she could go and be wild, and perhaps even a little dangerous. It was these supressed dreams that had led her to her husbands side, and that were now attracting her to Jack. She was fascinated by him.

Jack was always attracted to the riches of high society and treasured the women but instead of adopting the life of high society, he chose a life of piracy and freedom. Adventures were always at his doorstep. Upon seeing Lucy for the first time since the riots made him realize something deep within how much he missed throwing off society in general with his antics. He missed his home and he missed the sea even more.
"Perhaps when we take another trip, I can show you the sunsets over the waters."

And he'd kept the promise.
And she'd seen such awesome terrors they had plagued her dreams ever since...
But she pushed those thoughts to the back of her mind and tried to convince herself this was different. However, she could almost see him now, her husband, smiling at her in that condescending way with that wicked glint in his eyes.
She took another few gulps of wine to distract herself.
"Another trip? You mean we aren't always in this house?"

From his first trip to Paris, it certainly proved that he was out of his time but not out of the loop. "I had bad cheese the last I ventured out." He smirked playfully.
no subject
"Bad cheese? The way this Author seems to work that could have been a lot worse!"
Lucy wasn't sure yet exactly how dangerous the Manor might be, but she didn't trust anyone who could make people's clothes vanish, that was for sure.
Lucy leant across the table a little, deciding to flirt with Jack a little for the fun of it.
"If we were sent to some ancient kingdome and I was the damsel in distress about to be eaten by a dragon, would you save me?"
no subject
"I would sail to the ends of the earth and back again to bring you back from despair. You can count on that." This response was a bit more serious than his initial one and he meant every word.
no subject
"Oh Captain, you're every bit the dashing hero I used to daydream about as girl." she giggled. "I certainly can't wait to try your cooking, either."
no subject
"Certainly, you are not referring to me as being a hero among heroes." Jack responded jokingly and takes his first bit of the pot roast he made. It tasted much better than he had originally thought it to be. Perhaps it was the company that made it worth the effort.
no subject
"Oh that's wonderful." she said, "Charming, handsome, and a good cook!"
Honestly, she couldn't tell if Jack's cooking was anything exceptional, or if she was just overwhelmed with grattitude to be eating something that wasn't salad. She'd been practically starved this past year to keep her looking attractive.
no subject
"You must have me confused with someone else," Jack said jokingly. "Of course, I do like my meals a certain way though handsome is a rare exception to the rule."
Jack liked his meals hearty considering the time he spends out at sea some things were just so hard to come by. Beef and pork along with fresh vegetables and fruits were rare on long voyages. Mostly it was rum, peanuts and anything else that would last longer than a week if they were pickled.
"I followed the recipe and added a little of my own."

She poured herself another glass of wine and had a few more mouthfuls of food before asking, "So, do you have a wife? Or a partner of some sort?"
Lucy wasn't sure if they used the term 'girlfriend' in Jack's time.
no subject
"I never stayed in port long enough for a wife to be considered." Although he did express an interest in Elizabeth Swann but she had her interests in William Turner which is another story for later.
